Anatel seizes 126,000 irregular products in large operation

Anatel carried out last Wednesday, 05/12, a major inspection operation in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, focusing on several distributors of telecommunications products. The actions were coordinated by the Regional Management of Goiás and had the participation of 20 agency inspectors in different states. In the operation were found 126,737 telecommunications products and more than 60 km of optical cables, all without certificates of approval, which were sealed and seized by the Agency. The estimated value of the products is R$ 1.2 million. This was the seizure of the largest volume made by Anatel in 2018.They were seized by the Agency:

  • 450 Patch Cord
  • 580 Optical Termination Boxes (CTO)
  • 741 rolls of CCTV cables
  • 78 data network cable (UTP) coils
  • 73 wi-fi cameras
  • 9 Epon Un
  • 6 UTP network cable boxes

Anti-Piracy Action Plan – 2018 In 2018, Anatel intensified the fight against the commercialization of non-homologated telecommunications products, with surveillance actions throughout the country. In May, more than 25,000 unapproved equipment, estimated to be R$ 18 million, was sealed in seven states: São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais and Bahia. Already in August, in a lawsuit in Mauá (SP), the Agency sealed another 28,000 products without due certification, an estimated value of R$ 700,000). Complaints submitted by representative entities of the productive sector and the intelligence work developed by the Agency itself have been the main sources of data for the most recent surveillance actions. Anatel has also acted in a like with other agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Highway Police, in addition to being a collaborating member of the National Council to Combat Piracy.
